IUnknown.Team on WebXML Machine

IUnknown.Team is a group of IT specialists working together as a team since 2001. Our team, named IUnknown.Team™, consists of nine fellows distributed geographically including residents in the United States, Germany, and Russia. Over time we have been observing how enterprise solutions concepts evolve toward globalization and integration causing onrush of related technologies. Obviously, these tendencies are due to the fact that solutions presented on the market nowadays do not satisfy comprehensive requirements imposed by global rapidly advancing environment of the Internet. However, this is not well-known process of migrating from one version of application system to another, a newer one, with fresh features and added business value. It is more likely to be a transition from one generation of solutions concepts to another. We have been considering the following picture. Increasingly more computing architectures adopt Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts, which target to organizing applications and services into a single coherent system. This widespread adoption drives appearance of fundamentally new standards: XML Web Services, UDDI, WS-Specs (a.k.a. GXA), BPEL, etc. In shortest periods they get industry’s recognition and furthermore they tend to obtain de facto status. Their appearance makes large IT companies change their strategies and business models. That is what happens in the industry.

What we do is keeping an eye on all of the trends and permanently analyzing the whole picture. Inside our team we agree in opinion that the age of new opportunities comes. And these are much greater that many believe. That is why we work on a project named IUnknownTeam.ePortal. This is a 100% innovative project aimed to building an operational Next Generation Internet Integration System. The backbone of the project is a unique concept of “Web XML Machine™” – a proprietary, componentized, web-targeted portal engine founded on platform-neutral and open standards-based elements: XML, Web Services, UDDI, and BPEL. This next generation portal engine is a general purpose glue connecting clients of any type to content sources of any type in an extremely usable manner.

General architectural concepts of our project were defined as early as 2001. That was the time when no BPEL existed, when UDDI was just a topic for discussion within narrow circles of professionals, and when even XML’s ubiquity was not as evident as ubiquity of the Internet. Since then nothing changed in our architecture. But implementation technologies for different components of Web XML Machine appeared. Moreover, a new trend authorizing our architecture and project on the whole appeared in IT – grid orientation in the form of various Web Services fabrics. Thus, in the course of last years IUnknown.Team has always been a step ahead of the IT industry. What’s next? We know. Consider what is the largest computer in world? No doubt, the one is the Internet. And what does any computer have that the Internet does not? An Operating System. A Web OS owning Web Apps (see UDDI tab, for instance) is what is next. Now, we believe it is time to start more aggressive work with the purpose to be the first in the market that is maturing yet.
